Splitwise: The Wait Is Over

 

The Ask: Get millenial adventurers who are eager to get back out in the world with their friends after the pandemic to see that the wait is finally over by the telling them that Splitwise makes settling the bill one less thing to worry about.

The Idea: The pandemic, specifically lockdown, holds many moments that are now synonymous with this time in history. From the Netflix series 'Tiger King' to Zoom backgrounds, Millennials found ways to safely escape into these virtual worlds either by themselves or with friends. Now, it's time to escape and explore - It's time to get back out into the world and travel once again, the wait is over.

Podcast Advertisement

Millennials love podcasts - it's the modern equivalent to radio. Audio listening through music or podcasts is extremely popular. This campaign extension would convey a specific memory that millennials would remember from quarantine. From the Netflix series 'Squid Games' to fostering your sourdough starter, these stories would be retold within the ad portions of these platforms and shows.

Experiential: Vacation Ready with Splitwise

As millennials begin to travel again, they can still stay safe while getting out and experiencing life again with friends. Throughout NYC, a multitude of vans can be found on sidewalks giving people the free COVID-19 tests they need, with Splitwise creating this experiential pop-up event.

In addition to offering COVID tests free of charge, free promotional products (i.e. tote bags, luggage name tags with quarantine moments, vaccine cardholders, stickers with quarantine moments, KN95 masks, pop-sockets w/ logo) will be given away to make participant's vacation as easy as possible. There will also be a raffle of suitcase set(s), designer sunglasses, books, gift cards, and a grand prize of a vacation for 3 friends to a destination of your choice. This event will take place in a public area in large metropolitan cities where millennials are popular in residency.

Commercial Advertisement

Splitwise will use streaming platforms and social media to create a video compilation of past 2020 moments. This ad is a compilation TikTok memes or iconic moments of 2020. This commercial will be streamed on a TikTok format, streaming platform commercial format, and other social media formats.

#TheWaitIsOver: Instagram Campaign

Spliwise will ask consumers to post to Instagram using the hashtag #thewaitisover and show meme worthy moments of how they were spending their time during 2020. Splitwise can house this campaign by launching it on their social media pages, such as Instagram and TikTok. Splitwise will partner with various celebrities or influencers to help launch this campaign.

Experiential: IRL Zoom Background

During quarantine, Zoom backgrounds were used as our escape into other worlds. Now, people are getting back out. Staying connected with friends and family remains essentials once you’re traveling.

Splitwise would launch this experiential event at locations where participaants would traditionally change their background (i.e. the beach, Yosemite, Grand Canyon). Here, there will be a booth set up with a computer, with a perfect background behind participants at the event. Participants will be able to call their friends/ family and surprise them with a scenic background being the real thing. There will also be merchandise given to participants.
